CommunityTerms

Last updated 6 September 2026

These Community Terms govern contributing to the 4x4 India community — questions, answers, reviews, visit reports, build logs, marketplace listings, photos and your public profile — across the 4x4 India directories and 4x4community.in (the "Community"), operated by PRODM IT Solutions, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India ("we", "us"). They apply IN ADDITION to the Directory Terms of Use. You accept them once, when you make your first contribution (setting up your profile counts); just reading the Community never requires acceptance.

1. Your content stays yours — you give us a non-exclusive licence

  • Everything you post remains YOURS. You keep full ownership of your questions, answers, reviews, reports, photos, build logs and profile content ("Your Content"). We claim no ownership, ever.
  • So that we can actually run the Community, you grant us a NON-EXCLUSIVE, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, excerpt, translate and display Your Content on our platforms (including the directory pages a contribution is attached to), and to make the technical copies needed to operate, back up, index and moderate the service. Non-exclusive means you can post the same content anywhere else, license it to anyone else, and use it however you like — this licence never restricts you.
  • The licence ENDS for content you delete, and ends when your account is erased under our data-erasure flow — your right to erasure under the DPDP Act, 2023 stands and is not waived by this licence. After deletion or erasure we retain content only where the law requires it (for example complaint evidence or audit records), in backups until they cycle out, and in copies already lawfully made by other users or search engines outside our control.
  • We do not sell Your Content, and we do not license it to third parties for AI training.

2. You are responsible for what you post

  • You post as yourself, and you are responsible for Your Content. Post only what is true to your knowledge and your own experience — a review or visit report is a factual claim about a real business or place.
  • Do not post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, obscene, or that infringes someone else's copyright, trade mark or privacy; do not impersonate anyone; do not post another person's personal data (phone numbers, addresses, number plates) without their consent.
  • Do not post content that encourages trespass on private land or entry into Forest, protected or wildlife areas without the required permits (Indian Forest Act 1927, Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, Forest (Conservation) Act 1980).
  • One person, one profile: your profile is tied to your account and mobile number to keep one voice per person. Do not create multiple profiles, vote-rings, or report on your own business.

3. Community content is shared experience — not professional advice

  • Answers, reviews, reports and guides in the Community are other members' (and our editors') experience and opinion, offered in good faith. They are NOT professional mechanical, legal, medical, insurance or safety advice, and we do not verify them beyond the checks we describe on the page (for example "member-verified" labels).
  • Vehicles, terrain and laws differ. Before acting on anything you read here — a modification, a repair approach, a route, a legality question — verify it independently with a qualified professional or the relevant authority. You act on community content at your own risk.

4. Moderation, publication gates and removal

  • We may hide, remove, withhold from publication, label, or decline to publish any contribution — for example content that breaks these Terms, looks like spam or manipulation, or fails our honesty gates (such as outcome strips that publish only once enough distinct verified members have reported).
  • We may suspend or close accounts that repeatedly or seriously break these Terms. Where practical we tell you what happened and you can raise it with the Grievance Officer (section 6).
  • Moderation is about keeping the Community honest and lawful — it does not make us the author of members' content, and it is applied without regard to whether a business pays us anything.

5. No scraping, and no AI training without a written licence

  • You may read and share links to Community content freely. You may NOT bulk-scrape, harvest, crawl (beyond ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages), mass-download or republish the Community's content or member data, and you may not use Community content or member data to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning or AI models, without our prior WRITTEN licence.
  • Members' contributions belong to the members (section 1) — a written licence from us covers only our platform rights and never overrides an individual author's rights or a person's data-protection rights.

6. Complaints & the Grievance Officer

  • To complain about Community content (unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or inaccurate about you), or about how your personal data is handled, contact our Grievance Officer: Dinesh Parvatham — Grievance Officer, PRODM IT Solutions — contact@prodmitsolutions.com, or use the Report option on the content itself, or the /grievance page.
  • We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and make our best effort to resolve them within 15 days (IT Rules 2021). Data-protection complaints can be escalated to the Data Protection Board of India under the DPDP Act, 2023.

7. Our role: intermediary for member content

  • For content posted by members we act as an intermediary under section 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. We do not author or endorse member content, and we follow the IT Rules' notice-and-takedown process through the Grievance Officer.

8. Governing law & dispute resolution

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Community or these Terms that we cannot resolve informally shall be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, conducted in English; courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India have exclusive supervisory jurisdiction. Nothing in this clause takes away rights you cannot waive under Indian law, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the DPDP Act, 2023.

9. Changes to these Terms

  • When we materially change these Terms we bump the version and ask you to accept again before your next contribution. Continuing to contribute after accepting the new version is agreement to it; your existing content stays governed by section 1 either way.
